Video conference with guest speaker Dr Marc Turiault – Succeeding Together: Emotions and Strategies for Parents and Children

The APEF team is thrilled to organise a brand-new conference with Dr. Marc Turiault, a neuroscientist. This conference is specifically designed for Florimont, targeting both students and parents: “Succeeding Together: Emotions and Strategies for Parents and Children”.

Don’t miss out on Thursday, May 2nd at 7 p.m.!

The conference is free for Florimont parents and students. Family and friends are also welcome to attend for a fee of CHF 10.

Do you believe that success in school mainly depends on intelligence? Should we tell our children they are smart? This interactive conference, aimed at parents and children, will provide insights from cognitive neuroscience. You will discover that effective strategies and healthy emotional management can significantly impact academic success.

We will start with a live memorization experiment. Parents and children will be invited to memorize words and images together. You will find out that some methods are more effective than others, which largely explains the performance gaps observed among students.

We will also discuss the crucial role of emotions in learning. You will understand why a tense atmosphere during homework can severely impair children’s cognitive abilities.

Parents, you will leave with concrete tools to create an environment conducive to learning and help your children succeed. Children, you will learn tips to make your work more effective and, most importantly, to maintain confidence in yourselves.

Guest speaker: Marc Turiault

As a neuroscientist, educator, trainer, and speaker, Marc Turiault designs training programs and conferences to develop key skills for parents, children, and teachers.

Dr Marc Turiault

He worked for nearly 15 years in a neuroscience laboratory on dopamine, motivation, and memory. Through journalism, he shares science discoveries with the public, notably in the newspaper Le Temps. Leveraging his 10 years of experience as an actor on stages in Geneva, Paris, Marseille, and Avignon, he skillfully narrates, with humor and emotion, the marvel that is the brain.
